This the result of telling stories to my two sons when they were very young.  Then the idea was to keep on talking or reading until they fell asleep.   Now they both read regularly and also have found themselves in occupations where they have to write – a lot.

The eventual object of this work is to stimulate adults, particularly fathers, to read to their children and to tell them bedtime stories.  Make them up, like I did when mine were growing up.

Here are some that you might like to modify to suit your children.   They are mostly deliberately short – meant to be read by you, and then re-told.

DO NOT READ THESE TO THE CHILDREN.

THEY ARE FOR THEIR PARENTS AND OTHER ADULTS

When you have finished the stories, have a go yourself.  And lets hear it for the anti hero’s.  Wolves and sharks aren’t all bad guys.  Goldilocks wasn’t a saint.  She could be done for breaking and entering.

Your children will soon be grown and gone on their own paths of life.  They will remember!

Most importantly – MAKE IT FUN!
